The PD10 is Astell&Kern's first product to venture beyond the constraints of their existing lineup. It represents a bold new direction in product design and innovation. The PD10 embodies this evolution with a novel take on A&K's iconic volume wheel design. The DAP offers a more intuitive and distinctive path to optimal sound.

Complete HEXA Separation of Digital and Analog

Astell&Kern equipped the PD10 with the same innovative HEXA audio circuit design first developed for the flagship SP3000.  The PS10 consists of four AKM AK4498EX DACs and two separate AK4191EQ chips that handle digital signals.

Most digital players process digital and analog signals together inside the DAC. However, Astell&Kern’s advanced HEXA structure reduces the noise of the digital signal input through the AK4191EQ, a separate digital delta-sigma modulator, and the AK4498EX DAC is then designed to process the analog signals separately.

By physically and perfectly separating digital and analog signal processing, the PD10 delivers an astonishing level of sound that has seldom been experienced before.

Independant Dual Audio Circuits

To create not just a great DAP, but a truly innovative DAP, Astell&Kern worked to overcome the limitations of sound by designing an independent dual audio circuit for unbalanced and balanced outputs. By creating two separate audio circuits, one for balanced output and a second for unbalanced output, Astell&Kern maximizes audio performance no matter what output is being used.

Impedance Adaptive Dual Amps

To cater to the diverse listening environments of users, the PD10 is equipped with two distinct amplifiers.  Different sound tunings have been applied to each amp, taking into consideration the average impedance of connected earphones and headphones.

About the Leather Tanneries

Leather from CONCERIA WALPIER

Established in 1973 in San Miniato, Tuscany, Italy, Walpier Tannery has been in business for three generations and has a long tradition of making leather products based on their highly regarded vegetable tanning processes. The tannery uses only 100% raw hide leathers imported from France and is a member of Vera Pelle, Italy’s association of vegetable-based leather tanners.

Walpier's vegetable tanning is a traditional leather processing method handed down from father to son for centuries in the Tuscany region. The tanning process usually takes 40 days and is a process only practiced by Italian tanners of the world.

In addition, leather products that undergo the vegetable-based tanning process continue to gradually tan over time according to the user's care, usage, style, etc., showing the user's lifestyle and making the product completely unique.

Leather from BADALASSI CARLO

Badalassi Carlo, a tannery founded by CARLO BADALASSI, who was a professor at a leather school in the Santa Croce region, has been producing leather for more than 40 years by integrating the traditional vegetable leather processing method developed in Tuscany with his unique theory and technology.

Vegetable leather processing is an eco-friendly leather manufacturing method that takes a long time to complete by tanning leather only with tannins extracted from plants.

The leathers of Badalassi Carlo use the vacchetta technique that was developed in Tuscany and then processed using vegetable oil for tanning.

The company pursues high quality by creating products using small batch, handcrafted traditional techniques rather than mass production. The tannery is highly regarded and preferred by famous manufacturers around the world who value the quality of leather produced.

Perfect Circuit Design

KANN MAX is equipped with ultra-high output and does not allow any noise delivering the original sound without compromise as it should be. It applies an analog volume controller to deliver a rich dynamic range without loss. By separately configuring the power supply IC for each Audio Block, each IC is stably supplied its required power. Through this design, the interference ripple noise (amplified noise) of the DC-DC power supply is minimized.

The Coil Parameter Dual Custom BA Driver is a custom-made driver designed to reproduce both full-range and mid- to low-range frequencies. It comes with a total of four drivers: two BA drivers that offer ultra-low distortion to create clear low- to mid-ranged vocal sounds and two BA drivers that offer perfectly balanced rich sounds, uniquely tuned to harmonize each frequency range, playing perfect sounds.

The Deepest Bass and Clear Treble Sound

Based on its innovative technology and perfect design, the A&ultima SP3000 received the highest praise from audiophiles and media outlets worldwide, for opening a new horizon with sound that reaches the pinnacle of DAPs. Astell&Kern sought to commemorate the monumental success of the SP3000 by introducing the 24K Gold Limited Edition crafted with gold, the most valuable metal in human history.

A&K started with the innovative Stainless Steel 904L material used for the first time in the SP3000 and plated it with 24K pure gold to capture the pinnacle sound of the SP3000 in a metal of extreme luxury and value. Leather from Badalassi Carlo

Badalassi Carlo, a tannery founded by Carlo Badalassi who was a professor at a leather school in the Santa Croce region, has been producing leather for more than 40 years by integrating the traditional vegetable leather processing method developed in Tuscany with his unique theory and technology.

Vegetable leather processing is an eco-friendly leather manufacturing method that takes a long time to complete by tanning leather only with tannins extracted from plants.

Minerva Leather

Minerva leather, unlike Minerva Box, is a plain, un-milled leather that looks matte at first, but as it gets used, the color deepens and the luster increases, so you can see and feel the change over time.

Minerva is a vegetable tanned leather made using the unique Vacchetta method from Tuscany. At first, the leather looks matte with a lack of sheen, but over time it adds a natural luster and deepens the color. This is because there is no artificial coating on the leather surface, so the gloss rises naturally from the oil contained in the leather itself as it is used. As with other vegetable tanned leathers, Minerva is especially beautiful with time.

Fully Discrete 24bit R-2R DAC

The SE300 comes supplied with an R-2R DAC instead of a Delta-Sigma DAC commonly used in other players. R-2R DAC, also known as 'Ladder DAC,' offers natural yet dynamic Hi-Fi sound:

24-bit Decoding
48 pairs (23xR and 25x2R) of 96 ultra-precision resistors are arranged to create analog signals, realizing true Hi-Fi 24-bit decoding.

Ultra-precision Resistor Design
A&K inspected each specifically selected ultra-precision resistor of 0.01% error range for accuracy and precision.

Ultra-precision TCR10 Specs
To create Hi-Fi sound without distortions within such an extreme precision design, the SE300 comes with special TCR10 specs to minimize changes in the 0.01% resistor error range.

Optimized FPGA OS / NOS Modes
