A Step Forward for a Storied Brand

H909 is a flagship premium headphones based on the reputed closed type TH900mk2. While keeping the same sound characteristic, we further expanded and increased its sound field by adopting open back construction and adjusting the acoustic circuit design.

Offers a wider dynamic range with low distortion using 1.5 Tesla 50mm driver with repulsion magnet. Proprietary "Biodyna" technology (bio-cellulose and inorganic fiber admixture) is used as a diaphragm material achieving rich very low frequency, natural mid-range and especially excellent presence in high frequency reproduction.

Detailed Features

• Double layer structure etching metal grills are used as housing opening, which diversify the resonance points and offers gorgeous appearance.
• Housing cover uses Japan Lacquer Bordeaux finish manufactured by craftsmanship of "Sa-kamoto Urushi Factory" established in 1900.
• Custom made7N grade (99.99999%) high purity OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) unbalanced cable (model ET-H3.0N7UB equivalent) is included as standard.
• Equipped with detachable connector which supports the balanced connection with optional XLR cable (model ET-H3.0N7BL). Internal wiring also uses 7N grade cable.
• Detachable connection parts use rhodium plating finish offering high hardness, excellent abrasion and corrosion resistance.
• Newly designed ear pad adopts a low-resilience cushion to achieve comfortable fit and best audio performance.

Renowned, Premium Sound

Model TH900mk2 is the second generation of the TH900, one of the most renowned premium dynamic headphones in the market, which newly features detachable connectors for replacement of the standard unbalanced cable (equivalent to model ET-H3.0N7UB). The optional balanced cable, model ET-H3.0N7BL will also be sold separately to meet growing demands for balanced connection with various headphone amps offering balanced 4-pin XLR out.

TH900km2's "Biodyna" diaphragm is made by Bio-cellulose fiber featuring low specific gravity, high Yang's modulus and high internal loss at the same time to achieve 2 times high propagation velocity and 5 times high rigidity against the conventional plastic film based driver unit.

Premium Build and Comfort

The housings are finished by Japanese traditional "Urushi" lacquer by a 110 years old artisan group in "Bordeaux" finish on Japanese Cherry Birch, and the ear pads are made of protein leather made from eggshell membrane for maximum comfort.

The Fostex TH616 Limited Edition open-back headphone commemorates the 50th anniversary of the birth of Fostex. Carved from high-quality solid black walnut wood in a design reminiscent of traditional Japanese woodwork, the headphone has been crafted into an open housing while achieving reliable acoustic performance. Enjoy a new premium-feeling headphone that combines "Japanese" taste with an excellent acoustic structure, carefully assembled one by one.

Detailed Features

Open housing carved from solid black walnut. The housing is carved from solid black walnut, a high-quality wood, and has an opening with a design inspired by the fantastic natural phenomenon of sunlight shining through gaps in the trees. This machined design not only reduces weight and maintains rigidity, but also avoids uniformity on the housing surface, suppressing the generation of mode vibrations and reducing unnecessary resonance. In addition, in order to eliminate the effect on the sound caused by the resonance of the openings, all the openings vary in layout to suppress the occurrence of resonance at specific frequencies.

Biodyna diaphragm uses ultra-fine bio-cellulose fiber material. Utilizing know-how accumulated over many years, Fostex blended bio-cellulose and other fibers under optimal conditions. Achieves low specific gravity, high Young's modulus, and high internal loss. In addition to delicate, high-resolution, beautiful mid- and high-frequency reproduction, the adoption of free edges with good linearity faithfully reproduces large-amplitude low-mid frequencies.

Super strong magnetic circuit. The magnetic circuit is equipped with a 50mm driver unit with a magnetic flux density of 1 Tesla. The ultra-strong magnetic circuit provides a wide dynamic range with low distortion.

High quality and lightweight mechanical parts. Aluminum is used extensively for mechanical parts, achieving a high quality feel and light weight. By using high-density resin for the baffle plate, a reduction in the generation of resonance sound has been achieved for high resolution, rich midrange, and high-quality bass reproduction.

Detachable connector port. The cable side terminals and the detachable contact terminals on the headphone body side are rhodium plated for high hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance, improving reliability. In addition, it is also possible to support balanced connections with the optional replacement balanced cable ET-H3.0N7BL.

High-performance pure copper headphone cable. A high-performance pure copper HiFC high-grade cable that exhibits excellent conductivity through special processing is used to clearly express all bands.

Soft leather-like high-grade artificial leather pad with low-repulsion cushioning. Provides a comfortable fit and high sound insulation.
