Fellowship of the Ring

An achievement in its own right, the 56mm ring radiator found in the HD 820 leverages the key benefit of a large diaphragm transducer without losing the rigidity that favorably impacts rest and response times.

Instead of a single attachment on the outer circumference of the transducer, both outer and inner edges of the 'ring' are secured to the drive unit. The voice coil vibrates the diaphragm, connected to the V-shaped groove found near the center of the ring. The headphone’s vibration-damping chassis and inert headband insert provide complete stability, resulting in astonishing speed and accuracy throughout the entire frequency spectrum. What you put into the HD 820 is precisely what you will get out of it, too. Each transducer is manufactured, tested, and measured to an extremely tight tolerance to ensure the most dependable performance out of the box. Bathys Dune: Step Into the Light

Gracefully Charming Purple

Building on the success of the FT1, FiiO sought new types of woods to share their unique charm. Their search led them to Purpleheart, a rare “purple treasure” from South America prized for its hardness and striking hue, which matures from light brown to deep purplish-red. Used in fine instruments and furniture since the 1920s, Purpleheart combines nature’s gift with FIlO’s craftsmanship. 

After arriving in Lianyungang, it’s kiln-stabilized, aged for months to develop its wine-like color, then precisely carved, polished, and lacquered. This rare wood, long a symbol of mystery, power, and individuality, blending natural beauty with timeless evolution.

Closed-Back Design

Beyond the natural isolation of its closed wooden earcups, the FT13 features an integrated system of passive noise-reduction components. This includes a standing wave dissipation chamber, specially designed rear cavity sound-absorbing cotton, and a noise-reducing U-shaped tube.

Together, these components can reduce everyday ambient noise by up to 26dB. This closed design also prevents sound from leaking out, making the headphones perfect for quiet environments like offices, libraries, or dorms without disturbing others.

60mm Dynamic Driver

The FT13, like the FT1, features a massive 60mm dynamic driver, a size almost unheard of in its category. This larger driver generates more power and is more efficient at converting electrical signals into sound. The result is sound with less distortion, quicker transients, and deeper, more powerful bass. 

Wool Composite Nano-Fiber Wood Diaphragm

Crafted from birch wood sourced from Europe’s cold climates, the new diaphragm gains exceptional hardness and fiber strength, enabling precise tuning of resistance and stiffness for optimal sound. Using a century-old paper-making process, the wood pulp is blended with carbon fiber threads for added rigidity and treble detail, then baked to just 0.1 mm.

Wool fibers add natural flexibility, creating a warm, rich, and engaging sound. Inspired by speaker cones, the proprietary W-shaped design expands the vibration area by 25.8%, with a rigid dome and flexible surround for higher efficiency, reduced energy loss, and lower distortion.

Large CCAW Voice Coil

The FT13 features a Japanese-imported CCAW voice coil with an ultra-thin 0.035mm wire and a lightweight KSV former. These components dramatically reduce the moving mass of the diaphragm, resulting in faster sound response and reduced unnecessary reverberations. The voice coil has a diameter of 25mm. In a fixed magnetic field and with a constant current, a larger coil diameter means a longer voice coil wire. Thus, a longer copper wire results in greater driving force and higher efficiency, leading to a richer midrange and quicker transients.

A U-Shaped damping tube cleverly uses the air inside the headphones to tune the sound. The design has been optimized to lower the cavity's resonant frequency, resulting in deeper, higher-quality bass.

Large Dynamic Driver

The FiiO FT1 features a newly developed second-generation 60mm large dynamic driver, meticulously designed for FiiO's first closed-back headphone. Its larger-than-average driver size enhances energy conversion efficiency and provides a solid foundation for potent bass. Additionally, the increased driver size results in low low-frequency resonance points, allowing for deeper bass, dynamic sound, and an overall authoritative sound.

Nanowood Fiber Composite Diaphragm

The FiiO's diaphragm primarily consists of carefully selected wood fibers, based on 90-year-old spruce wood from Northern Europe. This wood is a top-grade raw material for musical instruments and fiber products, known for its clear sound and natural tone. Spruce wood undergoes a series of processes, including soaking, cooking, and beating, to create specific wood pulp. To meet acoustic toughness requirements, a precise proportion of carbon fiber material is added.

To fully unleash the acoustic performance of the nanowood fibers, light PU material with high internal resistance is utilized for the suspension gasket, improving diaphragm compliance. This process strengthens the density of the vocals from the source of the sound, resulting in warm, lush vocals.

Art of Sound

The FiiO FT1, in alignment with its overall acoustic design and high-level listening experience, employs a nanowood fiber composite diaphragm. It exhibits excellent high-frequency extension and transient response, resulting in clean, precise sound with clear imaging tone, and providing unique, sweet, high-density mid-frequency vocals. This driver works in harmony with the FT1's other acoustic design elements for a specifically-tuned frequency response for a pure and pleasant sonic experience.

Innovative W-Shaped Suspension Gasket

As the first closed-back over-ear headphones from FiiO, FT1 pioneers a new generation of in-house acoustic technology, the W-shaped suspension gasket. The 25mm diameter voice coil is larger compared to similar models and has been specifically tuned. Compared to typical similarly sized diaphragms, the W-shaped diaphragm achieves a 25.8% increase in effective vibrating area, allowing it to store more energy reserves.

The FT1's diaphragm, with a hard dome and compliant suspension gasket, allows the 25mm large diameter voice coil to directly drive the stiffer dome region. This setup minimizes vibration losses between different materials and reduces distortion caused by driver breakup, allowing the FT1 to deliver refined sound.

Japanese CCAW Voice Coil

To ensure robust and high-quality sound, the FiiO FT1 utilizes a specially imported Japanese ultra-fine CCAW (Copper-Clad Aluminum Wire) voice coil with a diameter of up to 25mm. A longer voice coil copper wire can directly enhance transducer efficiency and drive capacity, improving transient response and resulting in purer sound.

Each individual wire core in the CCAW coil has a diameter of approximately 0.035mm, as thin as a hair. Additionally, the voice coil frame employs lightweight Caption, which helps to significantly reduce the overall diaphragm mass. The result is enhanced response speed and minimized reverberation.

Additional Features

Up to -26dB of Sound Isolation
The FT1 incorporates a series of sound insulation components to effectively reduce ambient noise, including external voices and environmental sounds by up to -26 dB. Whether you are commuting, editing recordings, working in an office or gaming, the FT1 allows you to immerse yourself in a high-fidelity audio work.

U-Shaped Sound Damping Tube
The U-shaped sound damping tube enhances passive noise attenuation, but also allows sound energy to pass through a specific length and angle of the flute, increasing air viscosity and reducing cavity resonance frequency. This further enhances bass extension. You'll distinctly feel the air movement and the focused power of drums and strings.

Conical Baffle Plate
FiiO's development team designed a conical baffle plate based on the characteristics of the FT1 dynamic drivers. This device allows the entire driver to be positioned parallel to the human ear, breaking up sound convergence and avoiding standing waves. As a result, there is minimal high-frequency attenuation for true HiFi audio quality.

High-Sensitivity Design
The FT1 features a low impedance design of 32Ω and boast acoustic sensitivity metrics of 113dB/Vrms@1kHz. This significantly reduces the demand for driving power, allowing you to effortlessly enjoy excellent sound quality.

Ergonomic, Lightweight Headband

It integrates waveguides, diffusion control, quarter-wave, and Helmholtz resonators into one compact structure. A Sound Connection

40mm Titanium-Plated Mylar Driver

The Virtuoso boasts a balanced sound across the entire frequency range, featuring a 40mm titanium-coated diaphragm Mylar driver inherited from the Edition series. This driver ensures a wide playback frequency range while maintaining the excellent delicacy and detailed sound tuning of the previous generation model, providing low distortion along with powerful bass. Additionally, it delivers clear sound that allows for precise monitoring down to the sub-bass level, achieving low distortion across all frequency ranges.

S-Logic®3 Technology

The cutting-edge proprietary S-Logic®3 technology is the result of over 30 years of research and development by Ultrasone. Their latest innovation delivers a natural spatial effect, providing a listening experience that is nearly indistinguishable from professional studio monitors.

With this technology, the Virtuoso provides a personal, portable listening environment similar to that of high-quality studio monitor speakers in an acoustically tuned studio space. DDF (Double Deflector Fin)

ULE (Ultra Low Emission) Technology

The Virtuoso features proprietary ULE (Ultra Low Emission) technology, which reduces electromagnetic radiation by up to 98%. Using an upgraded MU Metal-based shield, it minimizes low-frequency magnetic fields during audio signal conversion. The thinner, larger shield enhances protection by redirecting emissions away from the listener, ensuring safer, more comfortable long-term listening.

This premium cable features a hybrid 4-core design, combining silver-plated OFC Type 1 Litz wires and 5N OCC copper Type 2 Litz wires—each core reinforced with durable Kevlar DuPont filament for added strain relief. The 26 AWG construction ensures optimal current flow and signal integrity. Insulated with LumiFlex™, the cable minimizes impedance and enhances sensitivity. Designed for Comfort

Virtuoso features FGC technology, which minimizes edge pressure, extending the amount of time the headphones can be worn comfortably. FGC technology effectively disperses the pressure at the top of the head where the headband rests, maintaining a comfortable fit when worn for long periods.

Additionally, the headband and ear pads are made with Alcantara material, which offers superior fit and reduces the load on the ears and head. This design guarantees a pleasant and comfortable experience, even for prolonged use.
