Pneuma's Philosophy

Pneuma, derived from the Greek word for “breath”, is often used to refer to a man’s soul. In Greek tragedies, “Pneuma” is often used in the phrase the “Pneuma of God” depicting a historically spiritual sense that we derive breath from God. Philosophers of the past such as the pre-Socratics and Aristotle also use Pneuma to denote the elemental air in motion or “warm air”; a fitting name for this pair of IEMs – highlighting its natural, elemental and fun sounds.

BAM™ Energy Optimizer 

Backfiring Acoustically-damped Membrane. Through innovative thinking and extensive experimentation, Lime Ears has uncovered a method to achieve superior bass control by harnessing the energy emanating from the rear of the transducer’s membrane. Building on this, they've further refined their approach by incorporating open-cell memory foam. This unique addition acts as an effective damper for the driver, effectively reducing acoustic resonances within the enclosure. The result is a remarkable enhancement in stereo separation, pushing the boundaries of the soundstage to new depths and widths. 

Inspirational Origins. This time, LE took inspiration from the bass reflex enclosures commonly found in studio monitors, to boost and enhance the bass quality by making use of energy reflection. Upon closer examination, they realized that such a mechanism was possible to be scaled down and be fitted inside our IEM, giving them greater control over the bass. After multiple iterations to mimic the speaker enclosure, they came up with a design that not only incorporated the essence of a bass reflex speaker, but also allows them to unlock and control the full potential of bass together with their SubWITCH™ technology. 

VariBore™ Acoustic Design

Variable Bore. Through their exploration, Lime Ears discovered a pivotal role played by the bore diameter in managing various frequencies. By meticulously shaping bores with varying diameters, they are able to optimize the transmission of different frequencies with increased precision. This effect is particularly pronounced in higher frequencies, where the expanded diameter significantly mitigates air friction and minimizes resonant influences. The outcome is a distinct enhancement in the upper-frequency range, resulting in improved high-end extension and a notably smoother, more authentic rendition of highs.

Scarlet Silverstream Shell 2023

Scarlet Silverstream. As with the concept of Pneuma, Lime Ears' new acrylic shell is aesthetically designed to capture the feeling of warm air currents. It features a flawless blend of fiery red and soothing silver tones, where the silver sparkles mirror the liveliness of moving air while the rich red hues express the comforting embrace of warmth. The shell is 25% smaller than Pneuma V1 for a more comfortable fit. Scarlet Silverstream offers a harmonious fusion of visual and tactile sensations as if inviting you to embark on a journey through the tranquil currents of the element, air.

Resonance Suppression:

Acoustic Impedance Matching:
Acoustic Impedance matching is crucial for achieving consistent and accurate audio reproduction. The new highly polished Stainless Steel material, imbued with texture from hand-processing, matches better with internal drivers while interacting with the geometry to enhance high and ultra-high frequencies, directing them straight to your ear.

Multi-Size Bores - Sonic Symphony:
Look a little closer and you’ll notice precisely selected areas where signals from different groups of drivers are added to the sound mixture. The HornCraft™ design orchestrates an intricate audio symphony, channeling ultra-high frequencies from the longest bore while the lower frequencies get channeled through the narrowest bore. Lime Ears' Horn nozzles are CNC machined with highest industry precision to achieve ultimate precision transfer of sound energy.

BADD™ Hybrid Low-End Technology

Balanced Armature Dynamic Driver. After long conversations with audiophiles worldwide and dozens of trials utilizing balanced armature and dynamic drivers for low end, Lime Ears came up with an idea to combine the detail and clarity of Balanced Armature subwoofers with the punch, weight and low-end rumble produced by their 7mm Titanium-Diaphragm Dynamic Driver. With their carefully designed proprietary crossover system, they achieved phase coherence that bridges these two drastically different driver technologies.

HERO™ Super Tweeter

High Efficiency and Resolution Output. It is known that heroes will always come to save the day. Hence, when Lime Ears' electrostatic drivers were not delivering the most optimal treble experiences, they had to bring in a “hero” of their own. Using the HERO™ Super Tweeter, LE managed to take the treble performance to new heights. This 2023 new generation Knowles RAU Balanced Armature driver provides an extended treble performance that boasts higher output and resolution without the need for a transformer or high-voltage amplifier.

In fact, it is able to cover a range up to 25kHz, double the extension compared to other BA drivers that tend to dip around 12kHz. The greater efficiency is evident in the significantly increased treble output at a much lower volume compared to their previous electrostatic drivers.

2023 BOSS Faceplate

Bello Opal Stainless Steel. The first extraordinary thing that one would notice is Bello Opal faceplates. This material truly is the king among lab-grown opals. The extremely complex and precise manufacturing process gives it an awesome play of colour, impossible to find in any other material. Lab-grown opals are physically almost identical to natural opals, which is why they’ve gained such a reputation and can be found in jewellery masterpieces around the world. Every piece is unique, with hand-finished acrylic shells and crystals of different shapes and sizes.

As the latest addition to the shell of Anima, Lime Ears added an outer ring crafted from stainless steel, enhancing its stability and structural integrity. The stainless steel’s gleam harmonizes elegantly with the Bello Opal’s oceanic blue, akin to a precious gem embraced by a ring of brilliance. The shell of Anima V2 is 25% smaller than the shell of Anima V1 to provide a more comfortable fit.
